Nova Nicaea: A Voluntary Christian Network
An optional faith-based community within Archipelibero for those seeking Christian fellowship
Optional, Not Exclusive
Archipelibero is agnostic and inclusive. Nova Nicaea is an optional cultural initiative for those who want to connect Christian faith with liberty through voluntary gatherings, service, and study. Participation is completely voluntary and non-exclusive—everyone is welcome in Archipelibero regardless of beliefs.
The Old Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten of the Father as the only-begotten, that is, of the essence of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through whom all things were made both in heaven and on earth; Who for us men and for our salvation came down and was incarnate and became man; He suffered and rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven; and he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
And in the Holy Spirit. Amen.
This is the oldest Ecumenical confession of faith, formulated in 325 by the 1st Council of Nicaea. That is why it is a symbol of the unity of worldwide Christianity. Since this creed is the only one that all of Christianity has ever been able to agree on, it also forms the common basis of faith for Nova Nicaea. Anyone who has been (or will be) baptized and agrees to this confession of faith can be part of the Nova Nicaea project. We are open for Christians from different backgrounds and traditions. This makes Nova Nicaea a libertarian and ecumenical network.
What Nova Nicaea offers
- Fellowship and service projects aligned with liberty and voluntary cooperation.
- History and cultural context, including Malta’s Christian heritage and Mediterranean traditions.
- Community-led events or study groups as interest warrants.
Clear boundaries
Participation is entirely consent-based. Nova Nicaea runs alongside the broader Archipelibero mission without shaping the community’s core positioning, which remains secular and inclusive.
The Nova Nicaea Project
Nova Nicaea is an initiative to offer Christians a perspective in Free Private Cities and other libertarian communities and networks and to enrich libertarianism with Christian life. It is not tied to any particular church department but is focused on the commonalities of all Christians. The aim is to build Christian polities based on voluntarism. These can be church congregations or informal networks within libertarian projects. At some point, entire Christian Private Cities or minarchist states may emerge.
Expansion stages of Nova Nicaea
- Informal worldwide network of libertarian Christians (current status)
- Christian-libertarian groups in libertarian intentional communities (planned for 2026 in Malta)
- Independent Christian intentional communities (modeled on Corazón del Cielo in Panama)
- Christian polities as part of Free Private Cities or minarchist states (e.g. as part of the Eleutheria project)
- Independent Christian-libertarian jurisdictions (in the form of Free Private Cities or minimal states)
Since it is expressly desired that several settlement projects start in different locations, different development stages will probably exist in parallel.
Europe
In 2024 and 2025, we traveled to various libertarian projects and interesting jurisdictions to find a suitable location. Malta turned out to be the most suitable option at the moment. That is why the libertarian intentional community Archipelibero is to be created on Malta and its neighboring island of Gozo in 2026. Part of this community, inspired by Montelibero among others, will be a Nova Nicaea group. For the next few years, Malta will be Nova Nicaea's base of operations to cooperate with libertarian projects in Europe and beyond.
Australia and Oceania
Nova Nicaea is staffed with the Eleutheria Project. Our Australian supporter Steve Clancy is in negotiations with different Pacific island states for a land lease agreement to establish a sovereign minimal state called Eleutheria (from ελεύθερος = free). In the future, this minarchist state should ensure the legal framework for free private cities and seasteading and also include a Christian settlement project as part of the Nova Nicaea network.
North and South America
There are contacts with libertarian Christians who are pursuing the Nova Nicaea idea, but no concrete settlement initiatives yet. We know that Christian worship services take place from time to time in Ciudad Morazán. A Christian settlement project in Panama already exists: Corazón del Cielo is a family, business, and education-oriented community with shared Christian values.
